IP Protection Grades
Codification of the Protection Grades
The protection grade is the protection standard guaranteed by a hull against the access to the dangerous parts, against solid bodies and/or against the penetration of water. This is verified by standard tested methods.
IP Code (International Protection) – a codification system for indicating the protection grades.

| 1 | Protection against solid objects bigger than 50 mm | 1 | Protection against dripping water |
| 2 | Protection against solid objects bigger than 12 mm | 2 | Protection against dripping water when tilted at 15° |
| 3 | Protection against solid objects bigger than 2.5 mm | 3 | Protection against dripping water when tilted at 60° |
| 4 | Protection against solid objects bigger than 1 mm | 4 | Protection against dripping water from every single direction |
| 5 | Protection against dust. Cannot be considered a perfect protection. The protection against dust is not absolute. However, it is sufficiently enough to keep out the dust of the equipment. | 5 | Protection against water jets. The water goes through a nozzle but it does not affect the functionality of the equipment. |
| 6 | No dust. | 6 | Protection against powerful jets. The water does not affect the functionality of the equipment. |
| 7 | Protection against immersion with an immersion of 30 min. of water. | ||
